Introduction to the Terracotta Army

The Terracotta Army, also known as the Qin Terracotta Army or Qin Warriors, is among the first batch of national key cultural relic units and the first batch of Chinese world heritage sites. It is located in the Terracotta Warrior pits, 1.5 kilometers east of the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor in Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.

Discovery of the Terracotta Army

In March 1974, farmers from Xi Yang Village, Lishan Town, Lintong County, discovered several broken terracotta figures the same size as real people while digging a well 1.5 kilometers east of the mausoleum. After exploration and trial excavation by the Shaanxi Provincial Archaeological Team, the Terracotta Army was revealed to the world.
