Introduction to the Ancient City of Lijiang
The Ancient City of Lijiang, also known as Dayan Town, is located in the ancient city district of Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. It was established in the late Song and early Yuan dynasties (late 13th century) and is situated in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. It is one of the two ancient cities in China that have successfully applied for World Cultural Heritage status as a whole ancient city.
Characteristics of the Ancient City of Lijiang
The streets in the Ancient City of Lijiang are built along the mountains and waters, paved with red breccia. There are attractions such as the Square Street, Mu Family Mansion, Wufeng Building, Black Dragon Pool, and Wenchang Palace. The architecture of the ancient city integrates the architectural styles of the Naxi, Bai, and other ethnic groups, full of rich ethnic flavors. Many traditional handicrafts and ethnic cultural activities are preserved here, such as Naxi ancient music and Dongba culture.
